Update Notifications
This page has been moved to docs.fsfe.org with the rest of the sysadmin documentation.
Some services we run are not updated automatically, e.g. via APT repositories or stable-tagged Docker images. We need to keep track of new versions ourselves and install them accordingly.
In order to not miss any of these new versions, it has proven useful to subscribe to RSS feeds of repository releases and/or project blogs. Here is a list of them.
ACME DNS: Server and client files are submodules of the repo. RSS Tags
BigBlueButton server with Greenlight frontend: Instructions here. BBB is upgraded via APT manually, but check releases first (RSS), Greenlight manually (RSS)
Discourse: Upgrades manually via Admin web interface. Some upgrades have to be run on server via launcher. RSS Announcements
Drone Server: Bump server, runner and cli Docker tags in the server's vars file. RSS server, cli, runner
Gitea: Upgrades via the describes shell script, minor releases usually contain some breaking changes and changes templates. However, we suggest to wait for the first patch release for a new minor release normally. RSS releases and RSS Blog
Lychee: Just replace the Docker image with the newest version. So far, no breaking changes. RSS releases
Passbolt pro: Just replace the Docker image with the newest Pro version. So far, no breaking changes. RSS announcements
PeerTube: There are upgrade instructions in our README file. RSS releases
Sengi: Just replace the Docker image with the newest version. So far, no breaking changes. RSS releases
Matomo: you will have to both update the Docker image version as well as run the upgrader from the admin interface to update the database (see Syshacker's password store). RSS releases
Icinga and Icinga Web: A manual apt upgrade takes care of them. For some major version bumps, you may need to run an updater script, but that's explained in the release notes: Notes Icinga Web, Notes icinga
