Hackathon aims and benefits

Free Software Hackathons have several benefits:

getting small tasks with a big impact completed more quickly
providing a social environment
providing a healthy alternative to the more shady world of corporate hackathons, where participants are asked to sign over their intellectual property to a private company
helping potential interns (for FSFE, GSoC, Outreachy and other programs) to publish small examples of their work

Tasks that would help improve the software used by FSFE staff and volunteers.

As well as potentially organizing FSFE hackathons, FSFE can collaborate with and promote hackathons run by other organizations with similar aims.
