Categories
Categories are a non-hierarchical means to organize information in this wiki. They should not be used in place of namespaces, but in addition to them (think of categories as a way to add tags to your pages).
As a rule of thumb:
You should organize pages in namespaces when there is a clear hierarchy of pages1
When there is no clear hierarchy, or if you need to place a page in a specific namespace, use categories2
Adding a category
All categories need to be in the namespace Category
- Before adding a new category, look at the existing ones and make sure that no other category is suitable for you
- Choosing a name
- Prefer concise names
- Use the singular form (yes, even though many existing categories do not)
Use WikiNames, but don't add arbitrary capital letters (SuitableName, not SuitAbleName or suitable_name)
