This section is dedicated to the project Advocacy of Free Software. For reference you can find the old advocacy project here.

The Supporters of FSFE can use this section to collect FAQ, presentation and teaching materials to effectively advocate Free Software.

Advocacy is part education, part engagement. It is where we share our enthusiasm for Free Software. Every volunteer can make a significant contribution to the FSFE and share our ideals with computer users, computer programmers and technology enthusiasts everywhere.

Advocacy is not just formal lectures. You can advocate Free Software when you talk to your co-workers, when you attend a conference and when you visit a user group. Advocacy is about engaging people with our ideals in a positive and constructive manner.

There are some tips to help ensure that audiences are engaged and goals are accomplished. If you have presentation notes, tips or guides you would like to see added please write an e-mail either to discussion@fsfeurope.org (the public mailing list) or discussion@lists.fsfe.org (the internal mailing list for Fellows).

Material is stored in the advocacy SVN repository, which is also available on http://download.fsfe.org/advocacy.

Promotional flyers, stickers, etc for your work.
Graphics, banners and web buttons to put in your website or blog. (Add new ideas for new stickers/slogans here)
Created with Free Software stamps to promote Free Software, put them in your website, your blog or in your presentation.
To create your own material, you can find the official FSFE colours and other designer guidelines on the designer section of the website.
Materials to help you successfully plan, conduct and evaluate activities.
We have lists of Free Software videos and audio recordings. Videos can be an extremely valuable learning tool - and often interesting and entertaining.
We also have a list of transcripts of several talks about topics related to Free Software.
A selection of pages related to advocacy issues are available on this site, some of which could eventually be used actively for advocacy purposes.
