KDE 4.2 Release Party in Vienna

When the KDE team called for KDE 4.2 Release Parties, it was clear that we would organise/join one here in Vienna. After asking on different mailing lists, we found out that no release party was already being organised. However, at the same moment a few people from the Metalab got enthusiastic about the idea, hence we scheduled the party there.

Beer and other beverages were available in the Metalab as usual, so we only had to buy some crackers and print a few posters to get the party started...

It was not a Fellowship-exclusive event, though of course we used every opportunity to place Fellowship logos and flyers . In fact, the event attracted a lot of KDE fans from the Greater Vienna area, and of course many people from the Metalab also joined.

The atmosphere was great all over the evening, it really was a cool party. However, there were two peaks worth to mention: the time when the release announcement went online and everybody raised his glass and/or bottle to KDE 4.2, and the moment Holger Schröder from the KDE on Windows Project dropped in. So we even had a real KDE developer there to touch and to talk to about our opinions and problems with the new KDE 4.

Finally, we all agreed that KDE 4.2 definitely is a great piece of Free Software, on the other hand we are already looking forward to the KDE 4.3 Release Party!

27. Jänner 2009 19:00 - KDE 4.2 Release Party in Wien

Das Wiener Fellowship der FSFE und das Metalab laden ein das Release
von KDE Version 4.2 gemeinsam zu feiern!

Die Feierlichkeiten finden am 27. Jänner ab 19:00 im Metalab
(http://www.metalab.at) statt, weshalb eine großartige Atmosphäre
garantiert ist und man jede Menge interessanter Leute treffen wird.

Geplant ist ein gemütlicher Abend mit einigen, dem Anlass entsprechend
KDE-fokussierten Aktivitäten, wie:

 * Installation von KDE 4.2
 * Features entdecken
 * Hintergrundwissen über KDE 4 Neuerungen austauschen
 * Erste Erfahrungen mit dem neuen KDE 4 sammeln
 * evtl. Verbesserungsvorschläge/Bugreports formulieren
 * Auf das neue Release anstoßen und feiern ;)

Wir freuen uns auf Euer zahlreiches Erscheinen und bitten diese
Information an alle potentiell Interessierten weiterzuleiten.
