Meeting places

Finding a good meeting place can be time consuming, so we'll try to note here whenever we know of a place that's reasonable.

On this page:

city: Dublin, Ireland

Our fsfe-ie list has about 100 members: https://mail.fsfeurope.org/mailman/listinfo/fsfe-ie

The Irish LUG is very big: http://www.linux.ie/community/mailinglists.php

The White Horse is a pub in Dublin city centre: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=53.34678&lon=-6.25653&zoom=17&layers=B0F It's good because it's reasonably quiet. Or The Long Stone.

city: Brussels, Belgium

We have an English speaking Benelux list: https://mail.fsfeurope.org/mailman/listinfo/fsfe-bnl But it's not a main point of communication for the local community, so don't only rely on this list.

The Brussels LUG is quite big: http://www.bxlug.be/mailmanlists/linux-bruxelles

There's a pub in the city centre that's usually quiet: http://ciaran.compsoc.com/faq.html#bonvieux

For something more formal, asking the Brussels LUG (mentioned above) might be able to give you access to the community centre they use.

city: Berlin, Germany

Our berlin@lists.fsfe.org list contains all people who want to be informed about local meetings in Berlin. https://lists.fsfe.org/mailman/listinfo/berlin

Usually the meeting is in the Newthinking Store, Tucholskystr. 48 in 10117 Berlin. There we have a beamer and enough place for about 30-40 people.

city: Vienna, Austria

city: Cologne, Germany

city: Düsseldorf, Germany

Notes

NOTE: The "ping" field is only for cities where you are an expert on that city. You should probably only be listed for pinging about one or two cities - three at the most. The "ping" field is not for staying informed about all events which are in your language area or which are reachable by train.

NOTE #3: Consider using http://www.openstreetmap.org/ to show where venues are. There is a "permalink" link in the bottom right hand corner of the map, or to make an image, use the "export" button.

Format of this file

Paragraph or two about what mailing lists and web forums and calendars are used by the community in this area.

Places where you can hold a meeting. Note things like proximity to external tranport (probably main train station, for people arriving from other cities)
